Injectivity & Conformance Enhancement
Restore injectivity. Improve sweep. Protect production.
Water, polymer, produced-water and CO₂ injection wells are the backbone of secondary and tertiary recovery projects. As injectivity declines and conformance worsens, production suffers and operating costs rise. AirShock® offers a fast, non-destructive way to restore and optimize injectivity using controlled nitrogen pulses in existing wells.
How it works:
An AirShock® tool is run on tubing or coiled tubing and supplied with high-pressure nitrogen from the surface. As nitrogen flows, the tool automatically fires every few seconds, releasing high-energy pulses into the wellbore fluid.
Each pulse:
- Forces fluid rapidly into the formation through perforations
- Then draws it back toward the wellbore as the gas bubble collapses
This repeated “in-and-out” movement creates a powerful near-wellbore washing process that:
- Breaks up and mobilizes scale, fines, wax/asphaltenes and other plugging material
- Re-opens and balances flow across perforations
- Encourages injection into under-swept zones, improving conformance
Typical applications:
- Waterflood injectors with rising injection pressures and declining rates
- Produced-water disposal wells approaching pressure or regulatory limits
- Polymer and chemical EOR injectors with plugging or distribution issues
- CO₂ and gas injectors where near-wellbore damage limits injectivity
